Aston Villa will compete in the Premier League Next Generation Cup this summer, facing teams from India and South Africa.

The fifth edition of the tournament will run from 1-4 August and sees Villa, Everton, Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur go head-to-head with East Bengal FC, Muthoot FA, Winners Punjab FC and Stellenbosch FC.

The club’s Bodymoor Heath training ground will host four match rounds, with two groups of four clubs playing each other before proceeding to a final fixture based on the final standings.

The final will be held at Loughborough University Stadium, where this year’s winners will be crowned.

All matches will be 11-a-side and will be 50 minutes long, with two 25-minute halves being played in each fixture.

News of the 2024 tournament comes after Villa won the inaugural Under-18 Premier League Next Gen Berlin Cup.

The Young Lions travelled to Germany for the competition in May, which was hosted by Hertha Berlin and saw four English Category 1 Academies take on four German Elite Academies.

Each English side played three group matches against German teams, with Villa excelling in their games.

Villa began with a 4-1 victory against Hertha Berlin before seeing off FSV Mainz 5-2, while Union Berlin were beaten 2-0 in the final group game.

A penalty shootout followed each match and Villa finished with 11 points after winning two out of the three.

St Pauli were the opposition in the final as the club earned a 2-0 win to secure the trophy.
