A few years ago, Youssoufa Moukoko was one of the most promising young players on the planet.
Excelling at youth team level, the youngster was fast-tracked to the Borussia Dortmund first team, where, to begin with, his future looked bright.
However, the 19-year-old has since failed to receive regular first-team football at the Westfalenstadion, and despite suggestions of a possible departure in the past, it now appears his time at BvB is up.
With Marseille looking to lure Moukoko to Ligue 1, there is a feeling as though this is the striker’s last chance to get his career back on track.
However, despite their interest, Dortmund are putting roadblocks in the teenager’s way.
According to RN, it is understood that Die Schwargelben will only allow Moukoko to leave if they sign Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier.
While it does appear as though the German striker is bound to make the move to Dortmund, placing further uncertainty over Moukoko’s future and risking the potential transfer falling through will not make things easier for the 19-year-old.
As well as this, as reported by Bild, Dortmund are said to not be pleased with Marseille’s offer for Moukoko’s signature.
It is believed that unless the French side improves their offer to BvB’s demand of €15–€20 million, they will also not allow Moukoko to depart this summer.
Undoubtedly, the 19-year-old is a very special and talented player, but at Dortmund, it just has not worked out as all parties would have hoped.
Now, it is about ensuring that the striker is given the opportunity to succeed elsewhere, and hopefully, a move to Marseille will not drag on until the end of the transfer window.
