Djordje Petrovic has revealed the unusual nickname he gives to Chelsea star Cole Palmer: 'Beans'.
The 22 year old enjoyed an incredible debut season in the Blues by scoring 25 goals and assisting another 15 in all competitions.
He quickly became a fan favorite at Stamford Bridge and many began to refer to him as “Cold” Palmer.
The attacking midfielder even imitates him with his celebration, but Petrovic seems to have a very different nickname for him.
In statements to the club, the goalkeeper saying: “Cole is an incredible guy, always relaxed… maybe even more on the field than off it. He's had an incredible season and helped the team a lot.
“Sometimes we have lunch together and most of the time I eat a lot of beets. So Cole gave me the nickname Beetroot.
“He needed one for himself and he eats a lot of beans, which I think is normal for English people, so now it's Beans.
“I know people call him Cold Palmer, which is a good nickname for him, but to me it's Beans.”
Like Palmer, Petrovic joined Chelsea last summer and also made a good impression during his first season at the club.
Serbia became the Blues' number one goalkeeper amid Robert Sanchez's injury and kept seven clean sheets in 31 appearances.
Petrovic notably saved Matt Ritchie's penalty against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup quarter-final shoot-out at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea lost the final against Liverpool but were still able to finish sixth in the Premier League amid a rollercoaster season.
The Blues were given to him qualification for the Europa Conference League and another chance to win her first silver medal since 2022.
Palmer and Petrovic will play under Enzo Maresca next season after the Italian was announced as the club's new coach.
