Aston Villa are in advanced talks with Celta Vigo over a move for defender Oscar Mingueza, talkSPORT understands.

Meanwhile, José Mourinho's Fenerbahce They are showing great interest in Villa's central defender diego carlos.

There could be a domino effect with Carlos leaving for Türkiye if Villa manages to reach a deal for Mingueza.

The versatile Spaniard, who can play both as a centre-back and right-back, currently has 18 months left on his contract.

He arrived at Celta from Barcelona in 2022 and has been capped twice by Spain.

The 25-year-old has made 17 appearances in La Liga so far this season, scoring two goals and providing five assists.

Mingueza would be Unai Emery's first signing in the January transfer market.

The Spaniard previously spent almost £150m on eight new signings over the summer.

As for Carlos, the Brazilian's contract will also expire at the end of the next term.

The 31-year-old is currently sidelined with a foot injury but is expected to return to action this month.

Carlos has appeared 17 times this season, including all six of Villa's Champions League games.

However, the return of Tyrone Mings could limit their opportunities despite the absence due to injury of Pau Torres.

Villa have already loaned Lewis Dobbin to Norwich following his return from West Brom this month.

Jaden Philogene could also leave Villa Park before the window closes as his move to Ipswich nears.

Emery's side currently sit eighth in the Premier League after 20 games, but are just four points off the top four.

They are also in the fourth round of the FA Cup after beating West Ham on Friday night.
