As part of the wider competition, the football event will start from July 24, just ten days after the final of Euro 2024.

Griezmann has already been included in France's squad for the final with Les Bleus tipped as pre-tournament favourites.

Olympic rules state that each team can include a maximum of three “overage” players and the rest must be under 23 before the start date.

Griezmann's France international team-mate Kylian Mbappe has indicated his desire to join, but that will be decided by his new club, likely to be confirmed as Real Madrid.

As part of Euro 2024 training, Griezmann was asked about his Olympic ambitions, and the 33-year-old is open to a call-up if his club allows.

“My desire is to go to the Olympic Games, it would be a dream. It is my club that decides and, for the moment, I am not in favor”, as quotes from Brand.

“The decision in his. I will not jeopardize my future at Atletico, I want it to be my last club in Europe.”

Hosts France have been drawn in Group A at the Olympics with the United States, Guinea and New Zealand with Argentina and Spain in Groups B and C respectively.
