Arsenal are “absolutely interested” in signing Jorrel Hato this summer

Fabrizio Romano reported in his Daily Briefing that Arsenal are closely monitoring Ajax Amsterdam teenager Jorrel Hato ahead of a possible move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer.

Hato emerged as another young prodigy from the Ajax Amsterdam set-up and signed a long-term contract with the Eredivisie giants until June 2028.

He is highly regarded in the Dutch capital and Ajax are interested in keeping him, but Arsenal are “absolutely interested and interested” in trying to buy the 18-year-old, according to Romano.

Hato is valued at £19 million per Transfer market But it is yet to be determined what Ajax Amsterdam's asking price would be if the Gunners formally declare interest in the defender.

The player can play both as a center back and as a left back and it is likely that this last option will be especially attractive for Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal expected to plan their final transfer strategy at the end of the first division season, with Romano further stating that “Hato could be a name to watch for Arsenal.”

Oleksandr Zinchenko has fallen down the pecking order despite being the only natural left-back available at Arsenal.

Jakub Kiwior and Takehiro Tomiyasu have suited themselves interchangeably in the left-back position, however, the Gunners are expected to sign a player specifically for that role this summer.

The signing of Hato would allow them to acquire a great young talent, who is already a key figure at Ajax Amsterdam with more than 40 appearances in the 2023/24 campaign.

Arsenal's interest in Hato has been notable since the winter transfer window and now could finally be the time Arteta gets his wish.

The 18-year-old has been “scouted for months” by residents of north London. says Fabricio Romanowhile Football London reported in February that Arteta is willing to part ways with Kiwior to get Hato.
