Barcelona have confirmed the departures of Joao Cancelo, Joao Felix and Marcos Alonso.

Cancelo, 30, and Joao Felix, 24, joined on loan from Manchester City and Atletico Madrid respectively at the end of the summer transfer window. Upon joining Barcelona, Joao Felix extended his Atletico contract until June 2029. Cancelo, meanwhile, has a deal with City that runs until 2027.

Both players are currently with the Portugal squad at the European Championship. They also featured regularly for Barcelona during the 2023-24 campaign, with Joao Felix contributing 10 goals from 44 matches and Cancelo featuring 42 times across both full-back positions.

Alonso, 33, leaves Barcelona after joining from Chelsea in the summer of 2022. He initially signed a one-year deal that was extended in January 2023.

Alonso made only eight appearances for Barcelona last season, although did spend several months out with a back injury.

Earlier this week, Barcelona also agreed to let Sergino Dest join PSV Eindhoven on a free transfer, retaining a sell-on clause, with the U.S. international having spent a productive season on loan with the Dutch side before sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury in April.

Barcelona’s financial difficulties are well-documented — The Athletic reported last month that the Catalan side had a €130million hole in their accounts that needed to be sorted by today, June 30, if they wanted to register new players in line with La Liga’s salary cap limits.
