Chelsea fans believe a moment in the Carabao Cup final marked the end of Mauricio Pochettino's time at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues confirmed that their coach had left the club by mutual agreement in a shocking announcement Tuesday night.

Pochettino's future had been uncertain for almost the entirety of his tenure in office which began last summer, with inconsistent form blighting his tenure.

A streak of 16 games without losing and five wins in a row at the end of the season Chelsea Finish sixth and seal European football. They also reached an FA Cup semi-final and Carabao Cup final.

But Chelsea fans on social media think that despite all this, it was clear that Pochettino would leave in the summer after an interaction with Todd Boehly one of his trips to Wembley.

But it was not what happened on the pitch that Chelsea fans believe sealed Pochettino's fate.

“It's over for Pochettino after he ignored and didn't shake Todd Boehly's hand,” one fan wrote in response to the clip of the moment on X.

Many fans pointed out that Pochettino did shake Boehly's hand, but with his left hand instead of his right.

Ending Pochettino's contract a year early will cost Chelsea around £3m and the players are sad to see his departure following a tense two-day performance review with Boehly and Eghbali.

Pochettino wanted an extension to his contract and greater involvement in recruitment, something Boehly and Egbhali were reluctant to accept.
