'Do you know where I am!' – Steve Bruce throws his hat in the ring for the vacant Leicester job following the departure of Enzo Maresca

Steve Bruce has told talkSPORT he is willing to take the vacant job at Leicester.

Enzo Maresca left the Foxes for Chelsea on Monday, signing a five-year contract to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

Leicester won the championship this season with the first. city ​​of manchester assistant, but are now looking for a new boss to keep them in the top flight next term.

Former manchester united Defender Bruce joined talkSPORT's breakfast show on Tuesday and it wasn't long before he was asked if he would be interested in the job.

When Nigel, a Leicester fan, asked him if he would be interested or if potential point deduction would dissuade him from taking it, Bruce threw his hat into the ring.

“A point deduction wouldn't discourage me,” he smiled. “Leicester, you know where I am! I mean, what a wonderful opportunity to suddenly present itself.

“You know, they may have some problems, but Leicester have been a great club in recent years, of course, the fairytale of winning the Premier League a few years ago.”

Bruce left his most recent job in 2022, leaving West Brom after eight months in charge and leaving the Baggies in 22nd place in the table, their lowest league position in more than two decades.

Prior to his role at the Hawthorns, Bruce managed Newcastle, Sheffield Wednesday, Aston Villa, Hull, Sunderland, Wigan and Birmingham.

But now, Bruce says he's open to other roles besides being a no. 1 in another club.

“I'm looking to do something,” he said. “I mean I've already had a year off.”

He continued: “Either management or working alongside someone. Or I would like to think that if a president asked me a question about football, I would like to give him an answer.

“I've been in (football) for a long time. But I've spent a long winter in this country without work, so doing something is the next step.”
