Jhon Durán has been voted Aston Villa’s May Player of the Month by supporters.
The striker, 20, earned just under a third of the votes from Villa fans in our official poll having contributed with some impressive displays and two crucial goals against Liverpool – landing his first monthly award since joining the club.
Durán stepped off the bench at the start of May and earned a late penalty in our 4-2 Europa Conference League semi-final first leg defeat against Olympiacos.
Further substitute appearances followed against Brighton & Hove Albion and the semi-final second leg in Greece.
But it was the Premier League home encounter against Liverpool in which Durán really made his mark, introduced in the 79th minute before bagging a crucial quickfire brace to secure a 3-3 draw and a valuable point in the club’s successful bid for Champions League football.
Durán, who also scooped the club’s Goal of the Season Award, rounded off the month and the season by starting Villa’s final-day defeat at Crystal Palace.
