Getafe opens talks on the loan of Mason Greenwood, but Man United makes its position on the transfer clear
Getafe have started talks with Manchester United over a new loan deal for Mason Greenwood, talkSPORT understands.
It is understood the Red Devils would consider another loan move but would prefer the striker to be sold.
Greenwood completed a season-long loan to the La Liga side on the final day of the 2023 summer transfer window.
In that time, the forward has played 32 games for Getafe, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists.
It is that type of form that has led Getafe to begin talks to extend their stay in Spain.
While Greenwood is a player on Getafe's radar, it is accepted that a permanent move could be difficult to achieve.
The Man United man is attracting huge interest across Europe, and the Red Devils are keen to let him go.
The forward was suspended by the Red Devils in January 2022 after being arrested on suspicion of rape, assault and death threats.
United launched its own internal investigation after the CPS dropped all charges against Greenwood in February 2023, leading to a statement confirming his plans to move forward.
Greenwood has just over 12 months left on his contract, meaning this summer will be the last chance to attract a significant fee for the player.
