Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has been open about his doubts when it comes to the fitness of Aurelien Tchouameni, after the Frenchman suffered a foot injury against Bayern Munich in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final. Now those doubts have turned into certainties of the wrong kind.
Los Blancos have one final game to play before the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund, with Real Betis traveling to the Santiago Bernabeu. He classified the game as preparation for the final and a chance to pay tribute to Toni Kroos.
“It's the preparation for the final, we worked well this week. It's the end of the league, we want to finish well, it's a fantastic season, we did well in the league from start to finish. This is the farewell of a legend of our club, we want to enjoy it, it's an important day.”
“It was a well-deserved League, with a very high score, it was the easiest to manage in my career, because of the atmosphere, because of the team, the players did very, very well.”
The sour note for the Blancos currently is the absence of touch mealthough it should be suitable for France in the summer.
“He is ruled out for the final, but he is preparing for the Euros, he must be ready for that.”
Outside of Tchouameni and David Alaba, Ancelotti should have a fully fit squad to choose from, although there are few doubts about the formation he will choose. Thibaut Courtois and Nacho Fernandez were the two question marks, but they look set to beat Andriy Lunin and Eder Militao for a place.
