Chelsea star Conor Gallagher in contract limbo as the midfielder is yet to receive a new contract ahead of the summer transfer window.

Chelsea are yet to offer Conor Gallagher a new contract, talkSPORT understands.

English midfielder Gallagher is in limbo due to his Stamford Bridge future and his current contract expires at the end of next season.

The Blues were open to offers for Gallagher last summer and in January.

This despite the fact that the 24-year-old is a pillar of Mauricio Pochettino's side and has captained the team on numerous occasions.

Tottenham They retain an interest in Gallagher but have so far been unwilling to pay Chelsea's £50m asking price.

While it is understood that Newcastle are also aware of the situation.

Financial Fair Play expert Stefan Borson has told Chelsea they must increase at least £100m in player sales dismissing the academy graduates, or risk violating the rules.

And this has seen Gallagher linked with a move away from west London in the upcoming transfer window.

Despite the high-profile signings of Enzo Fernández and Moisés Caicedo, Gallagher has been Chelsea's most consistent midfielder this season.

He has participated in 45 games in all competitions this season, contributing six goals and eight assists.

His stunning effort away from home against Aston Villa on Saturday rescued Chelsea a point after coming back from 2-0 down to earn a 2-2 draw.

Gallagher, who is approaching 100 appearances for Chelsea, revealed earlier this season that he feared for his future at the club.

He said The Telegraph in November: “I would be lying if I said no (for fear of losing my job).

“When the best players come to your position, you think that you have less chance of playing as much as I would like.

“It makes me even more determined to show the coach why you are good enough to play too. I think I have done that this season.

“There will always be competition. This is what it means to be at a big club like Chelsea, one of the best clubs in the world in the last 20 or 25 years.

“So that's going to happen. I was excited in a way. But I needed to make sure I was ready to prove to the coach that I was still good enough to play on this team.”
