Bayern Munich: Leroy Sané’s comeback plan for Real Madrid clash

There’s no doubt that Leroy Sané was Bayern Munich’s best player in their Champions League quarter-final first-leg game against Arsenal at the Emirates, but it’s no secret that the German has been struggling with injury.

Sané’s pubic bone suffered an “expected reaction” and was sidelined for their game against FC Köln the following Saturday. The 28-year-old since returned against Arsenal in the second-leg but again sat out of Bayern Munich’s 5-1 win against Union Berlin at the weekend.

Speaking at a press conference, Thomas Tuchel said: “For Leroy, it will be a race against the pain for Eintracht Frankfurt (April 27) and the game against Real Madrid (April 30).”

Sané has since returned to running duties on Wednesday and according to Bild, Bayern Munich have a clear plan to get the German attacker fit and ready for their Champions League semi-final against Madrid. Sané is expected to slowly increase his individual workload before returning to team training over the weekend, but won’t feature against Eintracht Frankfurt with the goal of being in Tuchel’s starting XI for the game against Real.

There is also some hope for Serge Gnabry. After tearing a muscle in his left thigh, the 28-year-old is also increasing his individual, and could make an appearance against Los Blancos on Monday.

But as for Kingsley Coman, it’s unlikely the Frenchman will play again this season.
