George Earthy discharged from hospital after sickening collision in West Ham defeat

West Ham youngster George Earthy has been released from hospital after suffering a head injury in the defeat to Fulham.

The 19-year-old came off the bench in the 82nd minute against farmers before a sickening collision with teammate Edson Álvarez occurred.

Earthy suffered a concussion and was taken to hospital for further tests, but the midfielder is now resting at home, the Hammers confirmed.

Performance director Richard Collinge said: “George is back home and we will continue to monitor him over the coming days as he completes the graded return to play programme.”

Earthy was left lying on the field and his teammates immediately asked the medical teams for help.

They then ran onto the field and, after six minutes of treatment, which included the academy star receiving oxygen, he was placed on a stretcher.

The stretcher was placed in the back of a medical truck that took him into the tunnel for further care.

“He is awake and has been taken to hospital for further evaluation.”

West Ham was defeated 2-0 by Fulham at the London stadium with Andreas Pereira scoring both goals for the Cottagers.

Fans won't be too worried about the loss, however, as Earthy's health and recovery will be the focus for many.
