You will have a head-mounted device that will connect to the audio channel used by the referees.

It is set to bring incredible new information to fans as part of a program produced by Premier League Productions.

However, it is expected to be a one-time thing, which may well disappoint those hoping for greater transparency.

A statement on the Premier League website read: “For the first time in the Premier League, referee Jarred Gillett will use a 'RefCam' during the match between Crystal Palace and Manchester United on Monday 6 May, as part of the filming of a unique short program promoting Match Officials.

“These images will not be broadcast live, but fans will be able to view them later this year as part of a program produced by Premier League Productions (PLP) aimed at providing further information and education on the demands of refereeing in the Premier League.

“The technology comprises a head-mounted device that is integrated into the referees' usual communication system.

“Its sole use for educational purposes has been approved by the IFAB, the Premier League, PGMOL and both clubs. We would like to thank Crystal Palace and Manchester United for their support with this project.”

You may not be able to see 'RefCam' instantly but you can hear live and exclusive comments of the game at Selhurst Park on talkSPORT.
